Spiritual Health

Lake

Research shows over and over that people who have a spiritual belief that includes a trust in a power greater than themselves, especially a loving one, are healthier. Since our goal is to help our community reach optimum health, we decided to start talking about it a little more. I hope you find this page encouraging!

Children   I added some free resources my kids and I love!  These are particularly useful for rainy days. Scroll down to find them.

Life can be full of uncertainty. It is hard to know who or what to trust.  God created us to have a relationship with Him. He loves you. He will always be there for you. Here are some Bible promises you can trust…

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Deuteronomy 13:8

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Psalm 23:4

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1

When God created the world it was perfect.  He created Adam and Eve with the ability to choose whether they wanted to follow Him or not. Satan tempted Eve and she chose to follow Satan instead of God. Right then God put into place a plan to redeem, or buy back, Adam and Eve and the whole human race. He promised that one day He would send a Savior. The Bible traces the course of God’s people through history. At one point, when His people had refused to listen and instead followed their own inclinations, they were captured by Babylon, an enemy kingdom. During their captivity the king had a dream about an image. God gave Daniel, one of the wise men taken into captivity, the interpretation of the dream.  This dream can be found in the book of Daniel, Chapter 2.  The dream was a prophecy and explained what would happen in the future – all the way down to the time we are living in today. At the very end of the dream "a rock was cut out, but not by human hands. It struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay and smashed them”.  Daniel Chapter 2 says that the statue represented kingdoms. The rock represents Jesus’s second coming. The head was the kingdom of Babylon, the chest the kingdom of Medo-Persia, the waist and hips the kingdom of Greece, and the legs the kingdom of Rome. The feet made of iron and clay represent a time in history when there will be no major world-wide dominating kingdom. We are living in the time of the feet.  Jesus is coming again soon. He promises that He is coming back to take us home to Heaven with Him.  We can have confidence that He is with us and loves us.

It's Not Too Late

In Luke Chapter 15 verses 11-32 Jesus tells the story of a father who had two sons. The younger son is tired of living at home. He doesn’t want to work in the family business anymore. So he asks his father to give him the money that he would receive as an inheritance when his father is dead. The father gives the son the money and watches as he leaves.  Every day the father watches for his son to return. The son spends his inheritance on careless living. Eventually he runs out of money, and to make things worse, there is a famine in the land. He has to feed and care for pigs to have anything to eat. As he realizes the pigs are better off than he is, he gets an idea that he will go home, tell his father he is sorry, ask for forgiveness, and ask his father to just let him be a servant. He sets out for home. While he is still a long way off, the father, who has watched for him every day, runs to meet his son. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.

21 “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’  22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. 24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.”  Luke 15:20-24

God is our heavenly father. He is watching for each of us to come to Him.

It’s not too late!

Movie Night

Have you wondered what really happens after you die?  What would a loving God do?  Hell and Mr. Fudge is the true story of a man’s search for answers. You can watch the preview on YouTube.  The movie is available to watch for free from Amazon Prime and can be rented or purchased on Vimeo.  And I just noticed today that the entire movie is available on YouTube.

This is probably a better movie for adults, not children.
